A short Western comedy from 1917
The setting is the Mexican Revolution and friends Pedro and Alvarez get a message to transport some weapons across the border.
"Legend Of The Wendigo" follows a family in the 1890's, whose young son is kidnapped in the night by a cunning folkloric monster. With help from the local Sheriff, they round up a posse of townspeople to venture into the dark woods and track down the creature.
Dave and Hank ride out of Death Valley, heading for the town of Mesa, but stop to rest in Alkali Springs, twenty miles from Mesa. Walking along the saloon porch, they overhear through an open window, two unseen men plotting to rob the Mesa bank that afternoon. One is a Spanish voice and the other American. Dave and Hank head for Mesa to get there before the hold-up and, there, they see the men whose voices they had heard; Sheriff Jeffries and Ortego.
An easy-going cowboy is forced to work on the ranch of a bossy 'able-minded' three-time widow who has designs on him.
The proprietor of the O.K. hotel is advertising for a "lady" cook. Meanwhile, a Chinaman is stealing all his trade. Sophie arrives in Snakeville and applies for the position. The proprietor engages her without a moment's hesitation.
From his hard and lonely life with his foster father, the adopted son finds solace in Cynthia, the neighbor's daughter. Father promises to give them money to start their happy married way, but forgets when a widow, with a little girl, comes home with him as a bride. Then it is that the abandoned well comes into play and father's eyes are opened to his neglect.
Mr. Magoo, intent on going to the beach, winds up in the desert instead. Thinking himself to be at the beach, he tries fishing (he hooks a turtle which he mistakes for a crab) and swimming. Meanwhile, a desert wanderer and his horse are lost beyond hope when suddenly they lay eyes on Magoo's set up. Thinking the whole thing to be a mirage, they decide to make the best of it by devouring Magoo's picnic lunch and refreshments despite Magoo's protests. After the hearty meal, the man wants to thank Magoo before he "fades away" by giving him the only gold nugget he found while trekking the desert. Magoo thinks the gold is a sea-shell and plans to give it to Waldo to add to his collection!

The lives of many men depend on his decision, and he knows it very well. The territory of a country isn't something that falls from the sky: the borders drawn on maps are the product, at some point in history, of the will and determination of a few men; and Fontana was one of those men.

Jack Hartley, the foreman of the Triple X Ranch, is engaged to Nellie Monroe, the ranch owner's daughter. On this latter occasion Jack is unable to restrain his temper.

Unknown to Jim, Flora is the daughter of an outlaw whom Cole had killed and has secretly vowed revenge against Jim.
One of John Waters' two Tim McCoy westerns made with MGM in the last years of the silent era. A print is preserved at the George Eastman House in New York but it hasn't been made available to the public and there don't seem to be any plans for it.
