Hayes visits con-artist Silky O'Sullivan at his San Francisco mansion and discovers that Kid Curry is on trial for murder in Colorado. Heyes rushes to the town and sees Curry in the audience; the man on trial is an impostor who didn't commit the murder he's accused of. Originally a longer duration episode of the TV series Alias Smith and Jones (1971). It occasionally appeared in syndication as a TV movie, under its own name, with the series title bluntly edited out of the regular series' opening credits.
Slick gambler James Wylie is apprehended by the law and given the option to forgo a prison sentence if he poses as a bandit. His mission is to uncover the identity of the Poet, a notorious outlaw who has been holding up bank-owned stagecoaches and leaving verses at the crime scenes to taunt the authorities. James finds time to woo the Poet's lovely wife, Ann, who initially cold-shoulders him. But, as a romance develops, they partner up to find the robber.

When Slade plots to take over the mine, Dad Randall kills one of outlaw's men, then dies of an injury. Bill accepts the blame and Nita turns against him. She later forgives and falls in love with Bill after he defeats Slade.
