Saddam'ın Askerleri: Kara Güneş

In this film, which takes a critical look at the period when Saddam Hussein, the former leader of Iraq who was brutally executed in recent years, was in power, director Gani Rüzgar Şavata's message is: "If soldiers are not robots, if they have become pawns for the supporters of imperialism, Zionism, and fascism, if they do not even recognize the thin line between life and death for people searching for their own identity, then these are Saddam's Soldiers." It is the era of Saddam Hussein in northern Iraq. Many raids are carried out on Peshmerga villages, and torture and suffering are rampant. Despite everything, an unstoppable love quietly blossoms, grows, and strives to survive.

The trilogy continues with The Mao Years, a look at the next period of modern China’s history: Mao Zedong’s rule, from 1949 to his death in 1976. The film begins with the celebrations marking the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, a moment of great hope for millions of Chinese. But the quarter-century of Mao’s rule was as turbulent as the decades which preceded it. Interludes of relative calm and increased prosperity were interrupted repeatedly by violent campaigns, purges, and a famine in which killed more than 30 million people. It culminated in Mao’s colossal and tragic experiment, the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. When Mao died in 1976, people were exhausted by the turmoil and longed for stability.

The film features the events taking place during the first Semanggi Tragedy, November 13th 1998. Combining fiction and real events, it uses footage from television coverage of the Semanggi shootings. Lanang, a student activist in Atmajaya University, is preparing for a mass scale demonstration at the Parliament Special Session with his friends. Lanang's mother, Mrs. Satya Graha and her friend, Jeng Tri, help the student action by providing logistics. On the same day, Novie, Lanang’s girlfriend is having her birthday. Lanang asks Novie to join the demonstration and after that, they will celebrate Novie’s birthday together. But Novie chooses to have a party at Indri’s house instead. In the afternoon, the Semanggi incident breaks. Lanang is one of the 250 victims of the shootings. Novie tries to find Lanang at the corner of Semanggi, but then she receives a call from Lanang’s friend, telling her that he is in the hospital.

Raphael - A Sensitive Genius

A documentary that restores to the world, five hundred years after his death, the universal and sensitive genius of one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance: Raphael Sanzio. Guided by the art historian Luca Tomìo, we decided to start our journey from the Renaissance atmosphere of Raphael’s birthplace, the Duchy of Urbino, to retrace, from the very beginning, Raphael's artistic education. From a young age, he found himself confronted with giants of the Renaissance art such as Piero della Francesca and Antonio del Pollaiolo, in the workshop of his father Giovanni Santi, also an excellent painter of the Urbino court.
