Brasil República, 1918. Luís Jerônimo is a rich young man. Womanizer, spends all night on the street drinking and having fun with prostitutes, the boy finds out that he has an injury to his right lung. Advised by Edmundo Esteves, his doctor, he decides to spend a season at a cousin's farm in the small town of Vila da Mata in Espírito Santo, in search of fresh air, to prevent the disease from developing into tuberculosis.
El Pecado de Oyuki is a Mexican telenovela produced by Televisa in 1988. It was based on an original story by Yolanda Vargas Dulché, who also adapted the screenplay for television. The original comic book series was in the style of the foto-novela. For the role of Oyuki, the photographer selected the Mexican Japanese Sachiko Tsuchiya. Born in Tepic, Nayarit, she became the most recognizable Asian Mexican of her time. The telenovela was shown in the United States in 1988 through Univision. Dulché's story was also adapted for Brazilian television in 1967 and as a comic published starting April 11, 1975 by Grupo Editorial Vid. The Brazilian version was called "Yoshiko, um poema de amor" and starred actors Luis Gustavo and Rosa Miake.

Cañaveral de Pasiones is a Mexican telenovela produced by Christian Bach and Humberto Zurita for Televisa and originally broadcast on Canal de las Estrellas from April 22 to September 3, 1996. It is based on the stories Una sombra entre los dos and Al pie del altar by Caridad Bravo Adams, adapted for television by María del Carmen Peña and José Cuauhtémoc Blanco. The story follows Julia Santos and Pablo Montero, two childhood friends whose lives are torn apart by a tragedy that sparks hatred between their families. It is a Brazilian adaptation of the Mexican telenovela Esmeralda (1997), itself based on the original story by Delia Fiallo.
