Based on a true story from November 1943 : the Resistance manages to publish a fake edition of the pro-German newspaper 'Le Soir', put on sale by surprise in the newsstands and stuffed full of parodic articles pouring ridicule upon occupying forces. The film faithfully traced the course of this humorous and enterprising attempt to wake up the populace, filling out the basic plot with irreverent patriotic gags.
In 1950s North Korea, during the war with South Korea, Son-a, a stunningly beautiful young girl, saves the life of Il-kyu, a wounded soldier left behind after a brutal battle. Separated by war and countries between them, broken hearted Il-kyu tries everything to return to her in the North. But political realities between the countries make their reunion impossible. As the years go by and their youth slips away, Il-kyu finally gets an unexpected opportunity to fulfill his wish and return to her.
Kristian Smeds's sensational debut at the National Theater. Smeds's adaptation of Väinö Linna's The Unknown Soldier had a powerful impact even on those who had not seen the play.
