In the not-too-distant future, a 'synthetic' soldier is about to extinguish his last breath in an abandoned refuge after living the horrors of an endless war over the dominion of Mars. His hatred towards himself and humanity shifts with the arrival of Myrra, a human soldier whose repeated efforts to save him help the Synthetic acquire a purpose and make him understand what it truly means to be 'human'.

Billed as a non-partisan, rally around the flag event, it was really an effort to help out his buddy Nixon and prop up sagging poll numbers mostly due to the Vietnam War. As you might expect many people saw through the effort as only war-supporting entertainers were recruited for the event. At some point during the show, supposedly protesters (who can be heard), were hit with tear gas that ended up drifted into the mostly white, evangelical, middle-age conservative audience relaxing on the national lawn. Near the end of WWII a lone U-Boat is sent from Germany to Japan carrying plutonium needed for a Japanese A-Bomb. During the long journey, news arrives on the radio that Hitler killed himself and Germany has surrendered. This causes a rift in the crew, the Nazi Party members wanting to continue to Japan since they are still at war, while the others just want to surrender or return home.

For the world Luciano Serra is missing, but he has entered the Italian army under a new name to fight in Ethiopia. The train in which his unit travels is attacked by Ethiopian soldiers, his son flying a reconasaince mission is shot down and wounded by the same attacking enemies. Will Luciano be able to fly the plane back, to get close air support for the outnumbered Italian troups?
During the Iran-Iraq war, a television cinematographer, having financial problems, needs to get a loan from the TV to complete his half-built flat so one of his colleagues suggests him going to the war zone under the pretext of making a documentary about the Iraqi captives for the sake of accompanying another man who is so influential in TV's treasury, so that he can take his loan more easily. However he doesn't want to get to the line of fire, his sanctimonious demeanor leads him to something more precious than what he started his journey for.
